This piece is based on an image from a WWII propaganda poster. The poster depicts a fragmentation grenade with a pineapple top because it was commonly called a "pineapple grenade."
A young woman's late mother had had this graphic as a tattoo. As an exceptionally thoughtful gift, I was commissioned to make this as a vessel by one of her good friends. The idea was for the daughter to be able to put some of her mother's ashes in it, wear it as a necklace, and spread the ashes out gradually as she travelled.
